I started this blog while riding a camel on the beach in Africa. Only the first sentence though, as I don’t endorse texting and camel riding. The rest of this blog was written in Uganda. Let’s talk about what I’ve been up to.
We had a debrief on the beach in Kenya. That time was pretty fire, in a metaphorical sense of course. That debrief was by far the most restful of the three, so I enjoyed that. We also went snorkeling. I saw a couple fishy animals, but not too many because the ocean was very wavy and I gave my snorkel to someone else who didn’t have one pretty early on. We also did a talent show, which was fun.
At debrief the leaders announced team changes and I was made into a leader. I’m honestly pretty glad I didn’t stay the social media person the entire time even if the experience was helpful for job applications. Social media is a common part of life, while treasury, logistics, worship coordination, and the leadership roles required learning new skills and having more responsibility. The social media job really felt like I didn’t have a job the entire time. That time was good in a lot of ways, I got to read a lot, but I did wish for more responsibility just to say that I had more responsibility. Now I do. The first day was a lot but we seem to be settling in.
I’m glad travel days are almost over. Nairobi was a nightmare to get through and I never want to go back there again. The Lord provided in a big way on that travel day, as only one member of my team had their visa approved but by the time we boarded the last bus we were all approved. The final bus ride also wasn’t nearly as bumpy as the other bus rides in Africa.
Ministry is very similar to ministry in Kenya with door to door evangelism. There is also a Bible study embedded into our schedule, so between those two I’m really getting a chance to use all I learned from my Bible time. Africa as a whole was a lot more Christ centered ministry, which has been more fun.
The final country has been entered. Let’s wait and see how the Lord plans to wrap this adventure up.
Unganda believe it! Kenya hurry home? Love you- Mom and Dad
