This week my team was preparing all of the classes we are going to teach to the sex trafficking victims. We will meet them next week. This is the first education program with this ministry, so we had a lot of control to design the classes how we wanted. It also means there aren’t a lot of people in the program yet, so we will be teaching three people.

I am actually going to be teaching five classes solo,  one class with someone else, and we are all going to be teaching English at varying times. There isn’t much to say about it other than I am really looking forward to meeting the people and putting my preparation into practice.

Here are a few other notes about other stuff.

  1. The biggest minor thing I miss is a consistent warm shower. The showers we have are sort of like Ohio weather in the sense that you have absolutely no idea what you are going to get each day. So warm showers aren’t completely gone, but it’s a roulette. I also miss Skyline as a Cincinnati boy, but the food here is really good, particularly at the cafe that I live at.
  2. Our team has partnered up with a kids ministry and will be playing soccer with them on Wednesday evenings.
  3. Our team has also decided to do a Bible study once a week. We are reading Ephesians. I’m not running it, as one of the other boys has run a Bible study on Ephesians before, but the rest of my team really seems to appreciate my insights on the Bible. That’s good, because one thing that I’m prepping while I’m here is to do a bunch of videos on the Bible after fully notating it. I won’t be starting on the race, so that will start in 2026. I’m around 200 video ideas about 20% of the way through Psalms right now, so this is going to be a long-term project of mine.
  4. One of my teammates is a pastry chef and the kitchen at the coffee shop wanted her to help improve the pastry menu and teach the staff more. So she’s doing that now and that’s really cool. God put her in a phenomenal position to use her passion and skills in a unique way on the race. Although she thinks that if you have two lasagnas and stack them on top of each other you still have two lasagnas and not one big lasagna, so I’m not sure if I fully trust all of her food insights, despite her degree. Education is important, but sometimes the education system makes you lose common sense on particular topics. It’s obviously one big lasagna.
  5. On Valentine’s Day the boys decided to get the girls flowers, cards, coffee, and treats. It was fun to surprise them.
  6. The chef referenced above is actually from Philadelphia, which added to the Super Bowl fun.

Next blog should be more interesting with the teaching. Until next time fellow humans!
