Well I sure want to go home more than the last blog. I was actually tempted to do a flight home the day we got back to America rather than waiting the final debrief week to be home but then God (heathens call it a conscience) said no.

What caused the change? Well the change wasn’t because of leadership or ministry. Both of those very important elements are going very well. The change was slightly because of health. My stomach hasn’t been really liking Uganda, although not nearly as bad as Ethiopia nor anywhere near as bad as some of my teammates. The change was also enhanced by the fact that many people also want to go home because the end is in sight and health is not great. But the straw that broke the camel I dabbed on top of’s back was the event of teammates going home for both health and personal reasons. I think a lot of people want to go home now.

But you know what? The show must go on. I started playing soccer with the intention of giving kids some good memories. The kids don’t know I want to go home. The kids just see a foreigner that they want to love on and I’m going to give them a chance to do so by playing as much as possible. Are some of them too little to remember the memories? Probably. Will the older ones remember anyways? Who knows. We won’t know the impact of this World Race until the end when we are in heaven. But we gotta keep scratching and clawing our way through in order to be the best possible ministers of Christ we can possibly be. Jesus didn’t become lackadaisical at the end of his ministry. He finished strong.

We were able to tie up a loose end by going to a graduation ceremony that some kids invited us to. The ceremony was very cute and the kids seemed happy to see us. The love the parents had for the kids was also very apparent, just like God’s love for us. We wouldn’t have been able to give the kids that memory if we stayed at home whining.

We finished giving out the first set of Bibles, but the job is not finished. We are going back to get more on Tuesday. You know why? Having a Bible in your hands can quite literally be the difference between heaven and hell. We can’t just stop when we have this opportunity. Will the Bibles sit on a shelf? Maybe. Probability says at least some will. But maybe the Bible will sit on a shelf for 35 years until the kid of the person we gave the collection of books to picks the Bible up and reads.  We have absolutely no idea what impact we are making or if we have made the impact we are supposed to yet. So we have to keep spreading seeds while we can and let God handle the rest.

We might run into someone during evangelism or Bible study that we convince to have a relationship with God during this final stretch. What if we don’t do that job? I’m sure God will provide another means, but getting an appointment from God to evangelize and not because you want to go home would be a very pathetic excuse.

Another moment that revived my spirit was pretty much finishing the script of my first Biblical video. I had so much fun making the script. No spoilers about the content, but I’ll just say I’m a lunatic. My brain goes off in a very good way when writing a sermon, and that effect appears to be amplified when I write a video script. I can’t wait to produce the show that I am going to.

But for now, this show must go on. We are near the ending now, but the ending has not occurred. Let’s do this, or in your case let’s read about this.

One response to “The Show Must Go On!”

  1. “What does not kill us makes us stronger” Arron, I am very confident that you are coming home much stronger! Very proud of you! Hang in there! Praying for you and your team!
