The introduction to this blog is canceled, just like a lot of our last week of ministry.

Our host was sick, and we had to deal with a situation involving very corrupt policemen. In short, one of the girls got their phone stolen, the police arrested the boys who did the theft, but then the police demanded money for release of the boys or the boys would be sent to a higher prison to be treated not very kindly. We really didn’t even want the boys to be held as long as they were, but Uganda despises thieves. We had to be the ones to pay the bribe because both our host and the parents of the boys couldn’t afford the money. We were also told the police would never help the people involving the situation again if the money wasn’t paid.

The final week wasn’t all bad. There were still some good conversations, but events got canceled a lot. We made our own ministry on one of the days, but for the most part we had a lot of time to wait around. Typically what I would do during my free time throughout the World Race was read the Bible and plan more of my videos. But I’ve gotten started on three of the scripts and I am really at a point where I need a computer with dual monitors and recording equipment to make progress on those videos. I’m watching some videos related to the subject matters, but the ideas are a lot to digest so sometimes I need breaks. I did a little Bible reading for fun, but not nearly what I had been doing.

I was able to go out for soccer during a couple of those waiting times, which was very fun. I went near some schools being let out and drew a crowd of about 50 people. I also clearly interrupted some school lessons, which was pretty funny. The event was almost enough to make me like soccer, but then I was reminded that I don’t like soccer. I did love having fun with the kids though.

Another good component of ministry was baptisms. Even though ministry could’ve ended better for us, we were apart of a very important part of those 17 people’s lives with their baptism. That reason was enough to make the final week worth all the waiting and trouble.

I’ll write one more blog as a final wrap up once I am back in America.
